Q. What is your current role at Penumbra?

As a Medical Education Program Specialist, my primary focus is in the vascular space at Penumbra where we provide and facilitate opportunities for healthcare professionals across the United States to learn more about our peripheral thrombectomy and embolization products. Our team curates and offers a variety of comprehensive learning experiences designed for healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge and understanding of Penumbra’s products and the disease states they address from other peers and experts in the field. These include live case observations, PEER (“Penumbra Early Experience Roundtable”) meetings, national summits, continuing education forums, and more. Our objective is to collaborate closely with our key opinion leaders to educate these healthcare professionals including but not limited to physicians, techs, and nurses in the industry on practical insights, clinical best practices, and the latest advancements to deliver optimal patient care with Penumbra products. Within my role, my responsibilities include coordinating these impactful educational initiatives in partnership with marketing managers and sales management to organize all program aspects from logistics to marketing materials, educational content, etc.

Q. What aspects of your job do you enjoy most?

The people! The atmosphere at Penumbra is incredible, and I have met so many great people across the country who have each taught me something different. Whether I have the honor of meeting other Penumbra employees, physicians, techs, or nurses, I appreciate the opportunity to connect and learn something new each time.

Q. What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?

Three pivotal career lessons have shaped my journey to where I stand today: the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, the value of stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing challenges, and the understanding that success is achieved through incremental progress. From a young age, I was taught to always be positive which I am forever grateful as it has shaped my professional pursuits. Additionally, stepping beyond my comfort zone has been transformative, pushing me to grow personally and professionally by expanding my horizons. Lastly, recognizing that success is incremental and built with hard work & time has taught me patience and perseverance.

Q. What is your personal philosophy?

In high school, I came across a quote by Maya Angelou that has impacted me ever since. The quote reads, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This quote has become my guiding principle, influencing my daily actions and interactions in every aspect of my life. It reminds me to always treat people with respect, kindness, and empathy.

Q. Before working at Penumbra, describe the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had.

During my time in college, I worked part time as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at a local station on campus. This invaluable opportunity immersed me in the field of healthcare, where I learned to navigate high-pressure situations with composure and empathy in challenging moments. My experiences as an EMT not only deepened my understanding of the medical realm, but also sharpened my ability to think critically. This role taught me the importance of remaining calm under pressure, a skill that continues to serve as a cornerstone in my professional and personal development.

Q. What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I am a twin, and my younger siblings are also twins. I have multiple sets of twins on both sides of my family, and being a twin is my favorite thing about myself.
